“V” ABC, Nov. 3. A clever update of the 1980s sci-fi miniseries about Earth’s first encounter with aliens, it stars the terrific Elizabeth Mitchell (“Lost”) as an FBI counterterrorist agent. Scott Wolf plays a TV anchorman who connects with the leading alien, Anna (played by Morena Baccarin, soon to be a household name). Lots of allegory regarding mindless devotion to religion. Peel back the skin and, well, the special effects have come a long way.
“V” (8 p.m., Nov. 3, ABC)
The basics: The ’80s miniseries about space aliens who come to Earth with a nasty agenda is revamped for 2009.
The inside scoop: “V” was an enjoyably creepy romp the first time around, so it will be interesting to see how this blast from the past is updated. And it should be fun to watch two of the most appealing TV actors around: Elizabeth Mitchell, a fan favorite as Juliet on “Lost,” and Scott Wolf of “Party of Five.”
Will it succeed? For once, this seems like a TV brand worth bringing back.
