Elizabeth posted 3 photos from her new construction project. She’s so creative. We are always so fashinated by the way she describes what she sees, by the way her eyes see things.

There’s a small studio apartment over my garage out here on the Mitchell Farm. I designed the “studio shed” for my Mom, so I decided to do a little #diy and create a space for myself. . “I feel so intensely the delights of shutting oneself up in a little world of one’s own, with pictures and music and everything beautiful.” ― Virginia Woolf . Every morning I wake up, choose an audiobook or music, (This week: Golden Compass, or Over the Rhine) and head to the studio. Taking things apart has tickled my curiosity on how things work, and putting it back together has been fascinating. Like a large puzzle. Why haven’t I done this before? Fear. Wanting to get things right. Not wanting to mess things up. But here, in this space, there are no “no’s”. It’s just for me. The luxury! The joy! The space is only limited by the walls, the roof, the materials at hand, and my imagination… and beginner carpenter skills, which are bolstered by my patient friend Mark (offering sage advice from a social distance) and the geniuses on Pinterest. I’m a little bit in love with the satisfaction I feel from the clean cut of my circular saw… . At the end of every day I’m “good tired” and able to be present and loving with the people unfortunate enough to be quarantined with an introvert. I hope in the midst of all this chaos , worry and uncertainty, you’re finding pockets of peace. . 📸: @stockoption
