Hollywood Outbreak

The finale of V airs tonight (9:00 p.m. ET/PT, ABC) and there is a whopper of a cliffhanger planned according to series star, Elizabeth Mitchell.

“People are dying and people are coming back,” she admits, but adds that she won’t be coughing up the fate of those characters are before it airs. “It’s always fun to be surprised. It’ll be fun.”

Mitchell plays agent Erica Evans on V and prior to that, the actress starred as Juliet Burke on Lost. So, she’s been poked and prodded plenty for information on shows that rely on secrecy – and she’s quite good a dodging the questions.

“It’s always good to see how they’re going to wrap up the season,” she points out. “You know, what comes to an end, what’s going to happen. You also know they have to make it bigger…twice as big…twice as dramatic.”

They’re closing out the season still not knowing if they’ll be back for year three, but Mitchell is resigned to letting things happen in its own good time.

“We have no idea…no idea at all,” Mitchell confesses. “When shows crash and burn you kind of know – you know exactly what happened. That hasn’t been the case with V, so I don’t know what that means. I don’t know what they’re thinking. I know that my manager makes daily calls asking, ‘Hey guys, what’s happening,’ and I hear the same thing every time, which is they just don’t know. I’m 40 years old. I’ve kind of given up trying to take control.”

If the series does end, it’s going out with Marc Singer, who starred in the original V mini-series, helping bring the program to a close. And Mitchell says the experience starring opposite the actor was irreplaceable.

“He was so great,” she gushes. “I was trying to figure out this and that and at one point he put his hand over mine and said, ‘You know that you’re not alone. I’m in this with you and I’m really happy to be here with you.’ And I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, that is very manly.’ I felt like he was wearing boots the whole time and I don’t think he ever did.”

Gotta love a modern-day cowboy.
