JUNE 2010

Elizabeth Mitchell has revealed that she has learnt how to fight back in the sci-fi show, V.

The 40-year-old, who plays FBI agent Erica Evans, has kept up her fighting training and can now hold her own.

“I have actually gotten a little more into it – only because I found with the first season of V that the fighting really came in handy, and I needed to learn actually more how to get knocked around rather than to knock around,” she said.

“When I came home covered in bruises I was like, ‘This is not going to happen again,’ so I learned more hand-to-hand and a little more, like stick fighting, so I could learn how to take a pretty hard punch. It was good. It was fun.”

Elizabeth is thrilled that the show has found a fanbase.

“I am pleased with how the show has been received, absolutely. Whenever you make something, you have no idea if people will like it or not and the fact that people watched it and liked it, and that my dad liked it, is very exciting,” she said.

She added: “What has drawn people to the show is that there are a myriad of people to become involved with, to hate, to love, to identify with. And when there is a clear and present danger, it kind of unifies people to get together, to fight. It’s kind of interesting.”

V is shown on Tuesdays at 10pm on Syfy, and is also available on iTunes. The season finale is on June 22.
